An aeroplane conducting a Part 121 operation requires a CASA-approved minimum equipment list (MEL).
Rotorcraft
A rotorcraft conducting a Part 133 operations requires a CASA-approved MEL if:
- there is a master MEL for the rotorcraft
- the flight is either, or both, of the following:
- an IFR flight
- a flight begins or ends at an aerodrome outside Australian territory.
Aeroplanes
There are MEL requirements for aeroplanes conducting:
- a Part 135 operation
- a Subpart 121.Z operation
- an operation under EX74/24.
If your aeroplane is conducting these types of operations, you require a CASA-approved MEL if the flight is:
- an IFR flight where there is a master MEL for the aeroplane
- a flight begins or ends at an aerodrome outside Australian territory (regardless of whether there is a master MEL or not).
