Ready to take your aviation career to new heights? CASA’s aircraft maintenance engineers (AME) scholarship program is your opportunity to do just that!

Engineers completing aircraft maintenace

We’re offering 3 scholarships of $5,000 each to assist aspiring AMEs work towards becoming licensed aircraft maintenance engineers (LAMEs). This is your chance to fast-track your career, gain the skills and qualifications you need and unlock exciting opportunities in the aviation industry.

The funding is designed to support up-and-coming engineers in achieving their Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 66 licence.

CASA’s Stakeholder Engagement executive manager Andreas Marcelja says aviation engineering is a critical field and these scholarships aim to inspire more young people to pursue careers in this dynamic industry.

‘We’ve recently made changes to the licensing structure to introduce a modular licence, allowing engineers to earn a limited licence after completing core subjects,’ Mr Marcelja says.

‘This change is expected to halve the time it takes for engineers to obtain their initial licence.

‘It's widely recognised that there is a global shortage of AMEs. By providing this financial support to those already on the path to becoming a LAME, we hope to help another 3 talented individuals complete their qualification.’

Now in its 5th year, the AME scholarship program has previously identified exceptional talent in the field with engineers working on all sorts of aircraft in workplaces ranging from major airlines to smaller general aviation operators.

‘The program showcases the incredible depth of skill within this profession,’ Mr Marcelja adds.

‘All past winners demonstrated the key qualities we value – passion for aviation maintenance, strong initiative and a commitment to safety and excellence.

‘While $5,000 may not cover the full cost of training, it certainly provides a significant boost for continuing education and is a great starting point for aspiring LAMEs.’

If you are working toward your AME licence, apply now.

Applications are open from 17 March to 13 April 2025.
