CASR Part 99
Drug and alcohol management plans and testing
Part 99 gives effect to Part IV of the Civil Aviation Act 1988, by establishing a framework for the development of drug and alcohol management plans (DAMPs) covering persons involved in safety sensitive aviation activities (SSAAs) and a regime for random drug and alcohol tests conducted by or on behalf of CASA.

Legislative Instrument
Legislative Instrument CASA AOD 2008/2 - Drug and alcohol testing was registered on 23 September 2008. This instrument lists the testable drugs for the purposes of Part IV of the Civil Aviation Act 1988.
Transition Support
CASR Part 99 took effect on 23 September 2008. Those organisations required to develop and implement a Drug and Alcohol Management Plan have a six month transition period to do so.
CASA random testing is expected to commence April 2009.
