Project CS 09/07
Amendment to CAO 20.18 (Paragraph 9B) - Directions relating to carriage and use of Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast equipment
Project Closure Notes
Project closed on 13 July 2009.
The Amendment Order came into effect on 20 June 2009.
Background
Civil Aviation Order (CAO) amendment No 1 of 2009 contains a possible ambiguity in paragraph 9B.4 and 9B.5. The word "serviceable" was inadvertently omitted as a descriptor of the ADS-B transmitting equipment. This may have an unanticipated consequence with the text being interpreted to prevent aircraft operations when the transmitting equipment is unserviceable.
Project Objective
To amend CAO 20.18 by inserting the word "serviceable" into paragraphs 9B.4 and 9B.5 to remove the risk of incorrect interpretation.
Status
This project was approved by Peter Cromarty, GGM AARG on 20 March 2009.
