Airport Emergency Planning Advisory Group

An Airport Emergency Planning Advisory Group (AEPAG) has been set up to "promote best practice in the development, maintenance and continued improvement of Airport Emergency Plans (AEPs) and the integration of such plans, procedures and terminology into the wider community, including State and National Disaster Plans."

The AEPAG replaces the previous National Airports Emergency Planning Committee. The first meeting was held in March 2008

Proposed amendments to the Manual of Standards (MOS) for Part 139 - Aerodromes

Proposed amendments to the Manual of Standards (MOS) for Part 139 - Aerodromes (Chapter 1 - Introduction, and Chapter 9 - Visual Aids Provided by Aerodrome Lighting)

This Notice of Proposed Change (NPC 139/04) proposes to amend various standards in Chapter 9 of MOS Part 139. Reference to visibility in Chapter 9 has prompted CASA to update the definition of Visibility (V), Chapter 1 of MOS Part 139, to align with the current ICAO definition.

Bird and Animal Forum

Around 100 people, representing all sectors of the aviation industry, came along to a recent forum to discuss the issue of bird and animal hazards and share how their organisations were managing the problem.

Birds identified using DNA

The DNA project funded by the ATSB has been finalised. A copy of the findings of the trial undertaken jointly by the Australian Museum and Museum Victoria is available to download.

Aerodromes can still use the DNA sampling kits (for a fee) from the Australian Museum to help identify birds.

Dangerous goods poster

Dangerous goods posterCASR part 92 (Dangerous goods) requires aerodrome operators and travel agents to provide information to passengers about carriage of dangerous goods on aircraft. To assist, CASA has produced a poster available in A2 or A4 sizes.

You can order copies of this poster. The posters are only available to Australian organisations to assist compliance with CASR part 92.
